Innately, you may already know what foods your body likes you to eat, and
which ones you need to stay away from, by discerning the way you feel following each meal. The idea here is not about eating the foods that you crave, or even your favorite foods, but consuming the foods that increase your overall sense of vitality.

To increase the vitality of your body with nutrition, eat more vital foods. For the record, it is often our favorite foods that cause us the biggest problems. This is certainly true in the case of allergies, which are usually caused by the foods we crave the most and eat too often.

The Ideal Diet

In my experience, the ideal diet includes several interconnected components, which are discussed in detail in Chapter 7 of Health Is Simple Disease Is Complicated.

1. Whole foods
2. Body type
3. The key elements of the healthiest diet in the world
4. The principles of food combining
5. pH Balance in the body
6. An awareness of the glycemic index and glycemic load
7. Natural methods of cleansing, detoxification, and elimination

Body Type

Illustration of the Four Body Types
Unique factors exist in each human body, which comprise your biochemical individuality. Taking these factors into consideration when designing a dietary regime makes the difference between success and failure. I have been especially successful in utilizing the Body Type diet together with body-type-specific exercises with my patients to determine their biochemical individuality.

The Body Type Diet

The Body Type diet provides an excellent means of accommodating the vast range of biochemical differences that are present in each human being. I have used it extensively for over twenty years and have found it to be both accurate and effective. The Body Type diet is based on hereditary factors, and emphasizes the dominance of a particular endocrine organ throughout a person’s development. The body type classifications are determined for each person by the dominant action of this specific endocrine organ. This endocrine organ is genetically the source of one’s strength and vitality.

The body typing system I use looks at the dominance of a particular endocrine organ. There are four different endocrine body types: pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, and gonadal. This is all about heredity. I’m sure that you can easily recognize hereditary factors that exist in your own family. Some families are tall and thin, while others are shorter and heavier. These family heredity factors can be traced to the dominant function of a particular organ of the endocrine system during development. This dominant organ helps to determine the type of physical development or body type a person has, their specific type of metabolism, food cravings, mental tendencies, and even their emotional makeup. It is extremely beneficial to know your own body type, as it will aid you throughout your life in maintaining a state of health and well-being. It is especially important not to overwork this dominant endocrine organ, as serious health problems can result when this organ begins to falter. Knowing your body type not only allows you to avoid overstressing this key organ, but it aids in establishing positive habits that help to strengthen it. You can usually determine people’s body type from their physical characteristics: the size and shape of their body, the angle and shape of their rib cage, the size and shape of their head, the shape of their extremities (especially the hands), and the foods they crave. Initially, these foods stimulate and energize a dominant endocrine organ; after several years, however, the organ becomes overstimulated and fatigue begins to set in, which can lead to a host of functional problems throughout the body. Most of you will be successful in determining your body type from the information that will be provided. The accompanying illustrations will be a big help, especially with weight gain patterns.

Weight Gain Patterns

Each of the four body types will gain weight in a specific part of their body that relates directly to their dominant endocrine gland. When the foods and lifestyle that overstimulate that gland are reduced or eliminated, the related weight gain pattern is also reduced. It is important to note, however, that you can have a weight gain pattern that is different from your body type. Also, a person can have more than one pattern of weight gain.

I have outlined these weight gain patterns and the specific foods that create them. Eliminate the foods that weaken your dominant endocrine organs and create weight gain patterns, and you will strengthen your dominant organ and eliminate the weight. Additional information about weight loss is included in the upcoming profile for each body type.

For the following 4 months we will provide detailed information about the “Body Type” (Pituitary/August, Thyroid/September, Adrenal-October, Gonadal-November).
