Spring has sprung, the grass is rising, I wonder what is on the health horizon?
Isn’t it wonderful to see green grass instead of white, grey or brown? It can
get a person excited about life. Springtime makes me want to clean my garage,
rake my lawn, and clean up all the debris from a long, cold winter. It’s time
to clean things up and get ready for summer!
We can easily apply many of these same principles about spring to our physical
bodies. Along with sweeping out our garages, we can also sweep out the toxins
from our long winter’s nap. All the residues from the past four or five months
can be swept clean by using any number of tissue cleanses that will help your
body work more efficiently for the rest of the year. Inner body cleansing is as
important as keeping your outer body clean. Several cleanses are outlined in my
book Health Is Simple, Disease Is Complicated. You can take your pick, which is
why the book is such a great health reference. Whenever you have a question or
want to know how to do something beneficial for your body, Health Is Simple
makes it easy to understand and to get it right.
For someone who has never done much cleansing, the Seven Day Detoxification
Feast is a good start. Notice I said feast, not fast. This allows one to
participate in his or her regular activities while feasting on copious amounts
of fruits and veggies all week. It is easy and helps to create a slow but
steady cleanse, which will help your organs and your skin. If you haven’t done
much cleansing, this is a good place to start. For those who have done some
cleansing in the past, The Gallbladder Cleanse is a great place to pick up the
pace. I just completed the GB flush myself, and feel much better as a result.
Basically, you eat a healthful diet for a week, eating lots of fruits and
vegetables, while drinking a quart of unfiltered, unprocessed apple juice every
day with phosphorus liquid added. Using some extra virgin olive oil and
disodium phosphate or Epsom salts, as outlined in my book, sets you up for a
great weekend cleanse. This cleanse will flush your gallbladder and your liver,
too, which will help you digest fats and oils more effectively down the road.

Along with raking my lawn, I can fortify my inner lawn by introducing more and
more beneficial flora of various types into my intestines. This will not only
help my body process toxins from my cleanse, but will activate the symbiotic
action of these important bacteria to improve my elimination and my immunity.
This is huge, as the intestines are really designed to house beneficial
bacteria and yeasts. And, there are many more beneficial bacteria than there
are bacteria that can cause us problems. The truth is that in a hostile
environment, we need their help. When the environment in the intestines is
healthy, beneficial bacteria and yeasts (from fermented food and drinks) will
keep these bad boys in check. Have recurring bacterial or candida problems? The
solution to the problem is in your gut. It is essential to get these little
critters on our side!
Another factor in cleaning up the debris from our long winter’s nap is to get
your body moving again. This includes exercises that increase both our heart
rate and our metabolism. Exercise can be the creative stressor that makes our
bodies work better, if our structural system is in proper alignment. If our
structure is out of alignment, which is often the case, aligning our spine and
our extremities is the order of the day. Exercise can be a disaster if your
spine or your feet need support. Asking an imbalanced system to do extra work
is more of a detriment than a help. So don’t miss this important step. Get your
spine and structural system aligned before you start stressing it with
exercise. Your body will appreciate the difference, and you will improve your
performance!
Enjoy your spring cleanse and don’t forget to smell the flowers.
Yours in good health,
Dr. Jim
